JEE Advanced is the second phase of the entrance exam conducted after the JEE Main. For 2022, JEE Advanced will be held on 28th August 2022. With just a month left for the exam, students have entered the final revision mode to cover every book nook to write a perfect answer copy.
This year, the IIT Bombay has allowed the aspirants who couldn’t appear for the JEE Advanced previously due to Covid-19 to reappear directly. However, there are fixed attempts to clear the exam. How Many Attempts for JEE Advanced Are Allowed?
Before appearing, it is mandatory to know how many attempts for JEE Advanced are allowed.
An aspirant can attempt the JEE Advanced exam twice in two consecutive years. So, if you’ve cleared the JEE Mains in 2020, and gave your first JEE Advanced attempt in 2021, then 2022 will be considered your second attempt. If you fail to appear for the exam in 2022, you won’t be able to apply again and will exhaust your chances.
However, aspirants who were unable to appear for the JEE Advanced exam in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-19 can appear for the exam directly in 2022.
Eligibility Criteria for JEE Advanced
An aspirant must have scored a minimum of 75% aggregate score in class 12th or any equivalent board to be eligible. Or the aspirant should be in the top 20% of successful students in that particular exam. Eligibility criteria for appearing in the JEE Advanced-
- An aspirant should meet the cut-off score and rank in the top 2,50,000 in the JEE Main paper 1 (including reserve categories and same ranks)
- The percentage category of shortlisted students is-
- GEN-EWS: 10%
- OBC-NCL: 27%
- SC: 15%
- ST: 7.5%
- Everyone: 45%
- The aspirant should have been born after or on October 1, 1997. ST, SC, and PwD aspirants will get relaxation of 5 years.
- The aspirant should have given class 12 board exams in 2021 or 2022.
- The aspirant should have chemistry, physics, and mathematics in class 12th.
- Any aspirant previously accepted in any branch of IIT and did not accept the seat by appearing at the reporting centre is not eligible.
- Any aspirant whose admission was canceled by the authorities at IIT is not eligible.
